Why everyone still says “Bains-Douches”
The building has had three lives, and the second is the one people remember. It started in 1885 as a luxury private bathhouse. On 21 December 1978 it opened as Les Bains Douches, a concert hall, restaurant and nightclub with a dancefloor by Philippe Starck; Sortir à Paris recalls artificial snow on the street for the opening, and a guest list over the years that went from David Bowie and Andy Warhol to Naomi Campbell. After years of closure, it came back in 2015 as a hotel with 39 rooms and suites, the Roxo restaurant and bar, and the club downstairs. So when a taxi driver or an older Parisian talks about “les Bains-Douches”, this is the place.
What a night is like in 2026
Don't expect a museum of the 1980s. The music policy today leans on new names across electro, indie and pop rock, and the autumn 2026 programme shows the style: Love Odyssey, Kiss the Sky with Bakean and Genuine, Michelle Bench with Palaisvert. Themed nights are a big part of its identity. For Halloween 2026, on Saturday 31 October, the club staged “Murder on the Runway”, a drag ball hosted by Diamanda Callas with DJs until 4:30am. The opening hours are shorter than at the techno clubs, so this is a club for the heart of the night rather than for sunrise.
Because the club shuts at 4:30am, the best of the night is between about 1am and closing; turn up at 3:30 and you'll only catch the end. It suits groups celebrating something, people who work in fashion or music, and visitors who want a club with a story without heading to the Champs-Élysées. Techno purists may find it too eclectic, and that's the point: the playlist moves between electronic music and guitar-driven pop.

Les Bains doesn't publish a dress code, but it is a fashion-minded room in a five-star hotel, and the crowd dresses accordingly. Something with a bit of style works better than a tracksuit; on themed nights, the theme is the dress code, and turning up in costume is part of the fun. Groups who want a base for the night can ask about a table: the options depend on the night and the area, so message us on WhatsApp with the date and how many you are, and we'll tell you what's possible.
Dinner, club and the Marais around it
The simplest plan is to start upstairs with dinner or a drink at Roxo, in the same building, and walk down to the club. For a rougher, louder follow-up, Le Klub is a few minutes' walk away near Châtelet, and the Marais around you is full of bars for the early part of the evening. The club closes at 4:30am, after the last metro; the Noctilien night buses run from about 0:30 to 5:30, so check your line before you go in.
