La Station – Gare des Mines Guide: Last Months Before the Works

· Updated:

La Station – Gare des Mines, the alternative club in a former coal station at 29 avenue de la Porte d'Aubervilliers (18th), is staying open only until the end of 2026, after which it closes for about three years of building works. Until then it remains one of the reference points of Paris's alternative night: electronic music from experimental club sounds to hardcore, with a strong queer and community side, and club nights that usually run from 23:00 to 07:00.

Why it's closing, and what comes next

The venue was due to close on 1 November 2026 at 07:00, after a closing weekend at the end of October with Station Nord and Station Sud both running. On 23 October Time Out reported a last-minute extension until the end of the year, while Collectif MU, the non-profit that runs the site, looks for a temporary space. After that, the site shuts for about three years of works that will reshape the whole Porte d'Aubervilliers area. The collective plans a new venue in the future district, but no reopening date has been announced. When we checked on 3 November 2026, the November and December programme hadn't been published yet, so the venue's agenda and Instagram are the places to watch.

What the night is like

La Station isn't a polished club, and it doesn't try to be. It occupies a former coal station on the edge of the périphérique, opened by Collectif MU in June 2016, with a new building and a 5,000 m² outdoor area with a garden added in 2020. Inside there are two rooms, Station Nord and Station Sud. Resident Advisor calls it one of the most vital alternative venues in Paris and describes the programming as queer and community-led, running from experimental club music to hardcore. Many nights are organised by collectives rather than promoters, so the crowd is often the collective's own community plus people who follow that scene. The site has also hosted a day welcome for exiles, the radio StationStation and artist residencies, which tells you something about its spirit: it's a place built by and for communities, where the party is one part of a bigger project.

No dress code, but clear rules

There's no dress code at La Station. What matters is how you behave. This is a safer space: anyone acting in an oppressive, violent or discriminatory way can be thrown out, and if something happens you can tell the ticket desk during the event. Come dressed for a long night in a former industrial building with an outdoor area, and respect the people around you. If you want help with one of the final dates, or to be told when new nights are announced, message us on WhatsApp.

Getting to Porte d'Aubervilliers and back

La Station is right at the edge of Paris, where the 18th meets Aubervilliers. Three rail options get you there: line 12 to Front Populaire, the RER E to Rosa Parks or the T3b tram to Porte d'Aubervilliers; buses 35, 54 and 239 also stop close by. Club nights usually end at 07:00, when the metro and RER are running again, so most people leave at the end. If you head home earlier, Noctilien buses cover the night from roughly 00:30 to 05:30. On weeknights the last metro is earlier, around 01:15 at the end of the line, so plan the way back before you go.
