From La Locomotive to La Machine
Older Parisians still call the place by its former name. Its old name, La Locomotive, covers about forty years of history: The Who and The Kinks on stage in the 1960s, then a second life during the techno boom of the 1990s. The Moulin Rouge then took it over, and in January 2010 it reopened as La Machine. Time Out Paris still ranks it among the city's best clubs (March 2026), calling it a three-floor mega-club and pointing to eclectic gigs, “We Are The '90s” nights and raves by the La Mamie's collective. That mix is the key to the place: it isn't a techno temple or a commercial club, it's a big building that changes personality with each promoter.
Pick the party, not just the club
Because each night is run by a different crew, the line-up tells you what kind of crowd you'll meet. The November 2026 programme shows the spread: AMS celebrates its 15th anniversary on the 7th, Flash Cocotte is on the 13th, Sans Logiques and 2Much share the 14th, and Galop Galop takes over on the 27th, before Trancemaster Krause plays all night long on 4 December. A 90s night and a trance marathon in the same building are two different evenings, so choose by the sound first. If you're a group, the size works in your favour, since the Central alone holds over 1,000 on club nights; table or guest-list options depend on the night: message us on WhatsApp with the date and the party you're after.
Techno in Paris: where to go →Door, dress and timing
There's no dress code unless a party sets one on its ticket page, so dress for the night you picked: comfortable for a rave in the Chaufferie, a bit of fluo or flannel for a 90s night. Time Out's tip is to arrive early, because the rooms fill up fast. Even on sold-out nights the venue usually keeps a small quota of tickets for the door, but for a group it's safer to sort entry before you leave home. With the club running until 6am and several rooms open at once, pace yourself and agree on a meeting point, since it's easy to lose friends between floors.
Next to the Moulin Rouge
Blanche metro is right outside, at the western end of Pigalle. The Bar Ă Bulles opens in the evening if you want a drink first, and the rest of Pigalle is a short walk east: Bus Palladium on rue Pierre-Fontaine, Folies Pigalle on the square, then the Mikado and Madame Arthur. The last metro reaches the end of the line around 1:15am on weeknights and 2:15am on Fridays and Saturdays; after that, the Noctilien night buses run, and by the 6am close the morning metro is running again.
