Pigalle at Night: Clubs, Cabaret and Where to Go Out in SoPi

· Updated:

Pigalle at night means La Machine du Moulin Rouge for a big club, Madame Arthur for drag cabaret and French-language hits, the reborn Bus Palladium for gigs and DJ sets in a hotel, Folies Pigalle for house and techno on the square, and Le Mikado for a 1920s basement. Everything sits within a few minutes' walk, on the border of the 9th and 18th, and most of it runs Thursday to Saturday until 5am or 6am.

The area south of the boulevard, often called SoPi for South Pigalle, has changed a lot: hotels have opened clubs in their basements and old rock venues have come back. What hasn't changed is the mix. On the same night you can see a cabaret, a concert and a techno set, and the crowd moves from one to the other.

La Machine du Moulin Rouge

Right next to the Moulin Rouge, at 90 boulevard de Clichy, La Machine is the biggest club in the area. For about forty years it was La Locomotive; the Moulin Rouge bought it and it reopened under its current name in 2010, Time Out says. It runs over three floors: the Central room, which holds over 1,000 for club nights, the Chaufferie in the cabaret's old boiler room, and the Bar à Bulles. On Fridays and Saturdays the club runs from midnight to 6am, with techno, house, trance, 90s revival nights and themed parties, and concerts on other nights.

There's no dress code unless a party sets one on its ticket page, and even when a night sells out the venue usually keeps a small quota of tickets for the door. Its nearest metro is Blanche, a few steps away.

Madame Arthur: cabaret, then club

Madame Arthur has been going since 1946, and Le Bonbon calls it France's first drag cabaret. Since 2024 it has lived at 75 bis rue des Martyrs, in the former Divan du Monde: three rooms on four floors and five bars. From Thursday to Saturday the shows start at 9pm; then the club takes over from 11pm on Thursday and 11:30pm on Friday and Saturday until 6am, and here's the twist: resident DJs play only French-language music, from chanson to pop hits. In November 2026 the show is Sur la route de Catchana, and in December a masked ball, Opération Bal Masqué.

Bus Palladium is back

Bus Palladium opened in 1965 at 6 rue Pierre-Fontaine and spent decades as one of the city's rock venues, from the Beatles era to Bashung, before closing in 2022. On 10 April 2026 it reopened as a five-star hotel with its club, according to Le Bonbon. The club in the basement recreates the spirit of the original, Time Out reported, and opens Thursday to Saturday from 11pm to 5am, with concerts, DJ sets, performances and aftershows programmed by Lionel Bensemoun, of Le Baron and La Mano.

Folies Pigalle and Le Mikado

Folies Pigalle, at 11 place Pigalle, is a 400-capacity club that has long hosted house, techno and disco promoters. Its nights are by event, on Friday or Saturday from 11:30pm; in autumn 2026 the Underground Legends series ran on 12 September and 2 October, with Sam Karlson on Saturday 14 November. A word of warning: the domain that carries the club's name doesn't belong to it, so check each night on its ticket page or ask us.

Le Mikado is the club under the Hôtel Rochechouart, on boulevard Marguerite-de-Rochechouart between Pigalle and Anvers. Its 1920s Japanese-inspired décor, refreshed by the studio Festen, gives it its name. Time Out Paris (September 2025) says it parties on Friday and Saturday until 4am, with guest DJs playing upbeat, crowd-pleasing house. It's small, so groups should ask ahead.

How to plan a night in Pigalle

A good Pigalle night starts early. Dinner in the area, then a show at Madame Arthur at 9pm, then a club: stay there, walk to La Machine for the big room, or head to Bus Palladium or Le Mikado for something smaller. If you'd rather stay on the Grands Boulevards, La Nuit, a 700-capacity club on boulevard de la Madeleine, runs its Lolita night every Friday. None of these venues publishes a strict dress code: smart and playful works almost everywhere.

Tables and groups work differently here than on the Champs-Élysées. Pigalle is mostly dancefloors and show rooms: at Madame Arthur, show seats, dinner and club entry are booked night by night; at Bus Palladium, La Nuit and La Machine, a table or a group spot depends on the night and the area; and Folies Pigalle runs on its promoters' nights. If you're celebrating something or coming with more than a handful of friends, tell us the date and what you have in mind, and we'll tell you which venue fits and what's possible.

Pigalle (lines 2 and 12), Blanche and Anvers (line 2) are the stations to know. The metro runs until about 1:15am from Sunday to Thursday and about 2:15am on Fridays and Saturdays (at the end of the line), then the Noctilien night buses take over from about 0:30 to 5:30.
