L'Aventure Paris Guide: the Costes Club Near the Étoile
· Updated:
L'Aventure is a restaurant, club and, since March 2026, hotel at 4 avenue Victor Hugo, in the 16th arrondissement, a block from the Arc de Triomphe, run by Beaumarly, the group of Gilbert and Thierry Costes. The club is underground, opens Thursday to Saturday from 23:00 to 06:00 and plays deep house and smooth, lounge-friendly house. Its door is one of the most selective in Paris, so the realistic way in is with a reservation.

Members' club or nightclub?
This is the first question people ask about L'Aventure, and the honest answer is: a bit of both. Galerie magazine, in February 2026, called it a subterranean members' club, and the website does have a membership programme. At the same time, Thierry Costes has said there are no dues, and the club opens to the public from Thursday to Saturday. What makes it feel private is the door: Costes himself has said that many people are turned away every night, and Access describes a carefully selected crowd. So don't treat it as a club where you queue and hope. Treat it as a place you book: dinner upstairs followed by the club, or a table for the club alone, arranged in advance. That's also how most of its regulars use it.

The room and the sound
L'Aventure is an old Paris nightlife name: Galerie recalls that the original was founded by the singer Dani, and the Costes brothers bought the Haussmann building during the pandemic to bring it back. Downstairs, Martin Brudnizki designed the club as a modern take on Art Deco, with mythological mosaics, embroidered velvet, gilding and deep greens. The music follows the Costes tradition, the smooth house that Hotel Costes made famous, with deep house sets and guests such as Guy Gerber and Seth Troxler. It's not a peak-time techno room or a hits club; it's built for a dressed-up crowd that dances, talks and stays late. If you liked Matignon, the group's other night address near the Rond-Point, you'll recognise the style, in a smaller, more hidden setting.
How to plan the evening
The simplest plan is dinner upstairs, where the restaurant serves French classics with Japanese influences in a room of mirrors, velvet and mosaics, and then the club once it opens at 23:00. You're already inside, and the door question disappears. The second option is a club table on its own, booked ahead with a date and a firm headcount. Since 3 March 2026 there's also a five-star hotel on the floors above, with Vincent Darré as artistic director, which makes L'Aventure an all-in-one night for visitors staying there. Beyond the weekend, Sortir à Paris reported in late 2025 a monthly evening called Bonne Aventure, with card readings, an astrologer and live drums in the basement, starting earlier in the evening. Send us your date and we'll tell you what's on and what's realistic.
The best clubs in Paris →What to wear
There's no published dress code, but with a door this selective, dress as you would for a smart dinner in the 16e: a jacket or a well-cut shirt, a dress or an elegant outfit, proper shoes. Nothing sporty, nothing loud. Arrive together, on time for the booking, under the name you gave. Getting there is easy: metro lines 1, 2 and 6 and RER A stop at Charles de Gaulle-Étoile, and avenue Victor Hugo starts on the Place Charles de Gaulle; after closing, the N11 night bus stops there too.
