Cabaret Sauvage Paris Guide: Music, Crowd, Dress Code, Getting There

· Updated:

Cabaret Sauvage is a circus-style wooden tent in the Parc de la Villette, entered from 59 boulevard Macdonald in the 19th, that hosts concerts, cabaret and circus and, on many Fridays and Saturdays, turns into a techno, house and electronic club for up to 1,300 people standing, usually from 23:00 or midnight. Inside, red velvet banquettes and stained glass surround a circular dancefloor, which is what makes a club night here unlike most others in Paris.

A club night under a Magic Mirror

The setting is the main reason to go. Cabaret Sauvage started with a Magic Mirror tent that Méziane Azaïche set up in the park in 1994 and that drew 25,000 visitors; he founded the venue in December 1997. In summer 2019 the old big top was replaced by a new wooden Magic Mirror, the first soundproofed one in the world, according to the venue. The red velvet banquettes, the stained glass and the round dancefloor all survived the change. On a club night, that means dancing in a circle under a wooden dome rather than in a black box, with the banquettes around the edge as somewhere to catch your breath. On some nights, such as Planète House, the DJ plays from a 360° booth in the middle of the crowd.

The club nights

The programme alternates concerts, cabaret and circus with club nights, which are mostly on Fridays and Saturdays and run by different crews. The music is techno, house and electronic, and the bigger nights can fill the room to 1,300. November 2026 is a busy month: ¡Frappé x Sauvage on the 6th, Distrikt Paris with a club night followed by an after on the 14th, Vitess “All Live Long” on the 20th, Club Sauvage 30h on the 27th, a marathon as the name suggests, and Planète House with Dan Shake, Marina Trench and Aubry on the 28th. Then on 12 December El Hey brings Samuel Deep and Domi. Tickets go on sale online in advance, released in successive tiers for the biggest nights, which rewards anyone who makes up their mind early.

Dress code, terrace and the rest of the site

Cabaret Sauvage doesn't publish a dress code for club nights. Dress for a big, busy dancefloor, and use the cloakroom inside for coats in winter. When it's warm, the 2,000 m² terrace and its outdoor bar host open-airs overlooking the Canal de l'Ourcq, and the floating Babour Sauvage is moored on the canal opposite. The venue also hosts private events for up to 800 guests in a cocktail layout. For a group or a birthday on a club night, message us on WhatsApp with the date and how many you are.

Getting there and getting home

The venue is inside the Parc de la Villette, with its entrance at 59 boulevard Macdonald. Metro 7 stops at Porte de la Villette, a short walk away. The last metros get to the end of their lines at about 02:15 on Fridays and Saturdays; after that, Noctilien buses cover the night from roughly 00:30 to 05:30, with Gare de l'Est among the network's big interchanges. Mia Mao and Glazart are in the same area, so a long night can easily continue: Glazart's afters start at 06:00 at weekends.
