Why the Rex still matters to Paris clubbers

Time Out Paris (March 2026) counts the club at more than 40 years old and recalls that it gave early nights to Laurent Garnier and Daft Punk. That history is not a museum piece: the club's own story puts an acid house night in 1988 at the start of its electronic life, and a 1995 refit turned the DJ booth to face the floor. Time Out mentions a system of 70 speakers. The result is a room built around the person playing, which is exactly why techno fans from abroad put it on their list.

The residencies give the programme its backbone. In the club's 2026 listings you'll find D'Julz and his Bass Culture nights, Ivan Smagghe, Chloé, Traumer, Camion Bazar, La Mamie's and Miley Serious. Guest bookings sit on top: in November 2026 the club announces Antal on Saturday 7th, MrD on Friday 13th and Hunee on Friday 20th.

How a night at Rex Club runs

Doors usually open around midnight and the music goes on until 7am, so there's no reason to queue at 11pm unless the night's listing says it starts early. Midweek nights are often run by local labels and collectives: the November 2026 programme has Westfall's Reload night and a release party for DJ Football. Fridays and Saturdays carry the bigger guest names. Tickets are sold night by night in advance, so pick your date first and sort entry before you head out.

Inside, don't look for a mezzanine or a roped-off corner. The club's FAQ says it plainly: no VIP section, no bottles, a mixed crowd, the focus on the booth and the floor. That changes how you plan. You won't book a table to hold your group together, so agree on a spot in the room and a time to meet outside if someone gets lost.

Who it suits, and what to wear

Rex Club suits people who go out for the DJ: techno regulars, house fans, small groups of friends and visitors who want one proper club night in central Paris. If what you have in mind is a table, a bottle and a dressed-up crowd, the clubs of the 8th will suit you better. There's no published dress code. Six or seven hours on your feet in a packed room is the real test, so wear shoes you can dance in and something light. ID can be checked at the door: the club accepts an original passport, a national ID card or a driving licence.

Before and after on the Grands Boulevards

The club is right by Bonne Nouvelle metro on lines 8 and 9, in the middle of the Grands Boulevards. Sacré and Silencio are a few minutes' walk away on rue Montmartre, and La Nuit sits further west on boulevard de la Madeleine, so the area works well if you want to compare rooms over a long weekend. Getting home is easy here: at the 7am close, the morning metro is already running. If you leave earlier, the last metro reaches the end of the line around 1:15am on weeknights and 2:15am on Fridays and Saturdays, then the Noctilien night buses take over.
