A club where the room is half the point

Most clubs in the 8e are new rooms dressed to look expensive. Raspoutine is the opposite: the décor is the real thing. The cabaret opened in April 1965 over three basement levels, the artist Erté designed the interiors, and the French Ministry of Culture listed the frontage, the entrance hall, the staircase and the first-basement décor as a historic monument in 1991. Time Out describes the rococo gilding, the chandeliers and the red velvet banquettes. In practice, that means you walk down a staircase into something closer to a theatre than a warehouse, and the dance floor is wrapped in that décor rather than in LED walls. It also explains the name you'll see abroad: the same website now lists Raspoutine clubs in Saint-Tropez and Los Angeles. If you care about the setting as much as the DJ, this is the address of the Champs-Élysées area that delivers it.

Which night to pick

The sound across the three nights is deep house: the club's own website says it is rooted in it. Thursday has its own identity. In March 2026 Access Le Mag described a weekly night called Kabukicho, a nod to Tokyo's nightlife district, with neon, music and performances and an international crowd. Friday and Saturday are the classic weekend nights, with the same deep house thread. Then there are the Fashion Weeks, twice a year for the main shows: both the website and Access single Raspoutine out as one of the regular stops for the after-show crowd. Those nights are fun if you've planned ahead and frustrating if you haven't. If your trip falls during a Fashion Week, tell us your dates as early as you can; outside those weeks, a Thursday is often the easiest way to see the room with a theme on top.

Getting past the door

Raspoutine doesn't publish a written dress code, but the door has a reputation for being picky and the website talks about a stylish crowd. Dress the way you would for a good dinner in the Triangle d'Or: a shirt or a jacket, a dress or a sharp top, proper shoes, nothing sporty. A few habits help at any selective door in Paris: arrive together rather than in waves, keep the group balanced, and know whose name the booking is under. A table is the most reliable way in, especially for a group, because the club works mainly with tables. Conditions depend on the night and on where the table is, so send us the date and the number of people on WhatsApp and we'll tell you what's realistic. For a couple or a small group, ask us about the guest list for a quieter night rather than turning up on a Fashion Week Saturday.

Planning the evening around rue de Bassano

Rue de Bassano is a quiet street of embassies and galleries, one block from avenue George V, so the easy plan is dinner or a drink in the Triangle d'Or and the staircase around midnight. If you want to compare doors, Cova and Mirage on rue Pierre Charron, Matignon by the Rond-Point and L'Aventure near the Étoile are all in the same part of town, with very different styles. Getting there is simple: metro line 1 to George V and a short walk. Getting home after 05:00 means the night bus or a car, since the metro stops well before the club does; the N11 Noctilien stops at George V and at Charles de Gaulle-Étoile. If you're staying in the 8e or the 16e, you can simply walk.
