· Updated:

Nouveau Casino is a concert hall and club at 109 rue Oberkampf, in the 11th, where most evenings start with a gig around 19:00 and, on Fridays and Saturdays, the room reopens as a club from midnight to 06:00, mostly with techno and house, plus amapiano and afrobeats nights. Two shifts in one room

Nouveau Casino works like a venue with two jobs. In the evening it's a concert hall with a wide programme (rock, rap, pop, jazz, metal, electronic acts), and the gig usually wraps up by 23:00. On club nights the room empties, gets turned around and reopens at midnight, then runs until 06:00. The agenda lists club nights as separate events from the gigs, each with its own midnight start, so double-check which one you're buying for.

A different crowd every week

There's no house resident who sets the tone: each club night is run by a different crew, so the music and the crowd change from one weekend to the next. November 2026 shows how wide that range is. SWEAT #4 on Friday 6 played house, indie dance and progressive; BASEMENT on Saturday 7 went to amapiano, afrobeats, shatta and rap; Blondasse Records on the 14th mixed trance, techno and house; and the monthly Less Drama More Techno closed the month on Saturday 28. Earlier in the autumn the venue also announced DJ Stingray 313 and Technosterone. The practical advice is simple: pick the night by its genre, not by the venue's name, because a Friday and a Saturday here can feel like two different clubs.

The walls have seen plenty of nights out. People sang here in a café-concert from 1850 to 1909, watched films when it was the Casino Oberkampf, then worked leather in what became a workshop, before the managers of Café Charbon, the brasserie next door, opened the current venue in 1999. Café Charbon is still there, which makes it the obvious place for a drink before the club.

So which night should you pick? If you want techno, the monthly Less Drama More Techno is the clearest choice; for house with an indie edge, a night like SWEAT; for amapiano, afrobeats and rap, BASEMENT. If none of the club nights fits your dates, the evening concerts are the other way in: a gig from 19:00, then the rest of Oberkampf's bars, or one of the other clubs of the 11th. Each night's genre is written on the venue's agenda, and we can help you choose on WhatsApp if you tell us what you like.

Dress code and the night out on Oberkampf

Nouveau Casino doesn't publish a dress code. It's a rock-and-electronic room, and the crowd dresses like it: what you'd wear to a gig or a club in the east of Paris, with the style shifting a little depending on the night's crew. Rue Oberkampf is one of the busiest bar streets in the east, so the classic plan is a drink nearby first, then the club at midnight. For a group or a birthday, message us on WhatsApp with the date and how many you are.

Getting there and getting home

Parmentier (line 3), Ménilmontant (line 2) and Rue Saint-Maur (line 3) are the nearest metro stops, and bus 96 stops nearby. The last metros get to the end of their lines at about 02:15 on Fridays and Saturdays, so it's useful to arrive but not to leave. If you go before closing, Noctilien buses cover the night from roughly 00:30 to 05:30, with Châtelet and Gare de l'Est among the network's big interchanges. When the club closes at 06:00, the first metros are running again.

Both. Most evenings start with a concert around 19:00; on Fridays and Saturdays the room reopens as a club from midnight to 06:00.

What music do the club nights play?

It depends on the crew: mostly techno and house, but also trance, and amapiano and afrobeats nights such as BASEMENT.

Is there a dress code at Nouveau Casino?

No dress code is published. The crowd dresses as for a gig or a club in the east of Paris.

How old is Nouveau Casino?

The current venue opened in 1999, but the building was a café-concert from 1850 to 1909 and later a cinema, the Casino Oberkampf.
