Matignon Paris Guide: From Dinner to Club Night

· Updated:

Matignon is a restaurant and club at 3 avenue Matignon, in the 8th arrondissement, by the Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées and facing the gardens of the Théâtre Marigny. It belongs to Beaumarly, the group of Gilbert and Thierry Costes. It serves from breakfast onwards, and every evening from 23:00 the lounges become a club with resident DJs, according to its website. It's one of the few addresses in the area where a weekday can turn into a club night.

One address, two moods

Matignon is built for people who don't want to change venues halfway through the night. During the day and at dinner it's a restaurant: a terrace for breakfast, a veranda for lunch, a bar for cocktails, and a dining room by Jacques Garcia. At 23:00, according to the website, the energy goes up and the lounges turn into a club with resident DJs. The club décor, by Charles Tassin, mixes a safari-club feel with the seventies: leopard carpets, seventies fabrics and impressionist canvases. The Costes signature is easy to spot if you know Hotel Costes or L'Aventure, the group's other night address near the Étoile: polished, a little theatrical and built around a festive, international crowd. If you book dinner, you are already inside when the club starts, which is the easiest way to enjoy the switch.

Residents, guest DJs and the calendar

Resident DJs play every evening. On top of that, the group has brought in names from the house and techno scene: it announced DJ Tennis at Matignon in August 2024, and Seth Troxler has played there too. In August and September 2026, event listings also showed live acts on some Tuesdays, which is unusual for the 8e. Because the club runs every evening, Matignon is a good answer to the question of where to go on a Monday or a Tuesday near the Champs-Élysées, when most of the neighbourhood's clubs are closed. According to the Paris tourist office, it also opens on public holidays such as 14 July, 15 August and 25 December. Its website mentions a partnership with Art Basel Paris, so the week of the fair is one to plan ahead. If you have a specific DJ in mind, send us the date and we'll check the programme.

Dress code and booking

Matignon doesn't publish a dress code. The crowd is a dinner-and-club one in the Triangle d'Or, so dress as you would for a good restaurant: a smart shirt or a dress, proper shoes, nothing sporty. Booking is recommended, and the house even offers valet parking at the door if you arrive by car. The two common plans are a table for dinner that you keep when the club starts, or a table for the club only after 23:00. Tell us which one you want, the date and how many of you there are, and we'll come back with what's possible; conditions depend on the venue, the night and where the table is.

Around the Rond-Point

Avenue Matignon runs from the Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées into the Triangle d'Or, between the theatre gardens, the galleries of the avenue and rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Les Planches on rue du Colisée and Bridge under the Pont Alexandre III are close if part of the group wants a bigger dance floor later. At night, the N11 bus stops at the Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées and runs both ways along the avenue, which makes the way home simple.

Frequently asked questions

Is Matignon a restaurant or a club?

Both. It's a restaurant from breakfast onwards, and every evening from 23:00 the lounges become a club with resident DJs.

Who runs Matignon?

Beaumarly, the group of Gilbert and Thierry Costes, which also runs L'Aventure near the Arc de Triomphe.

Is Matignon open on weeknights?

Yes. The club runs every evening, which makes it one of the few options near the Champs-Élysées on a Monday or Tuesday. It also opens on public holidays.

What should I wear to Matignon?

There's no published dress code; dress as for a good restaurant in the Triangle d'Or: a smart shirt or a dress, proper shoes, nothing sporty.

Is it better to book dinner or a club table?

Both work. A dinner table you keep when the club starts is the easiest way to be inside at 23:00; a club-only table suits a later arrival.
