Gate Paris Guide: House and Techno at Porte Maillot

· Updated:

Gate is an electronic club inside the Palais des Congrès at 2 place de la Porte Maillot, in the 17th arrondissement, open at weekends with house and techno and international guest DJs on Fridays. It opened in December 2023, from the team behind the former Carbone club, and holds around 500 people across 600 m². It's the west of Paris's answer for people who want a DJ line-up rather than a table-service room.

An electronic club on the posh side of town

In Paris, many of the electronic clubs are in the east, on the river or in the inner suburbs. Gate is the exception on the west side. Its website talks about major international electronic artists, and the October 2026 programme shows what that means in practice: Andrea Oliva on Friday 16 October, Ajna on Friday 23 October and MoBlack on Friday 30 October, one guest after another on consecutive weekends. The origins explain the approach: Time Out reported in 2023 that the club came from the team behind the former Carbone, working with the Culture and HAÏKU collectives. If you're staying around the Étoile or Neuilly and want a proper DJ night without crossing the city, this is the place to look first.

Inside the room

The club's website describes a large dance floor, a 9-metre bar, glass-tiled VIP areas that nod to an older nightlife era, and a mezzanine overlooking the room. Lighting is by Ato Design and the sound system is from Loud Professional, which matters in a club where people come for the DJ. With about 600 m² and room for around 500 people, Gate is mid-sized: big enough to book international names, small enough to feel full on a good night rather than half-empty. The tables are in the VIP areas and on the mezzanine, with a view over the booth, so even a table group stays part of the night rather than hidden in a corner. The venue is also hired out for private events, and the Paris tourist office lists it among the event spaces used by media, culture and fashion companies.

Dress, tickets and timing

Gate doesn't publish a dress code on its website. It's an electronic club rather than a table-service club, so a smart-casual outfit you can dance in is fine; listings suggest keeping it neat. Line-ups change every week, so the easiest way to know who's playing on your date is to ask us. For the bigger names, sort out entry before the night rather than at the door: tell us the date, how many you are and whether you want tickets, the guest list or a table, and we'll come back with what's possible. Conditions depend on the club, the night and the table.

Getting there and back

Porte Maillot is one of the easiest club locations in Paris to reach. Metro line 1 stops at Porte Maillot, with exit 3 for the Palais des Congrès, and RER C and RER E stop at Neuilly-Porte Maillot. Line 1 also links it to the Étoile, where Le Duplex, L'Arc, Nua and L'Aventure are, if you want dinner or a drink there first. After closing, the N11 night bus stops at Palais des Congrès and Porte Maillot and runs to the Étoile, down the Champs-Élysées and across the centre.
