Clubs Outside the Périphérique: Montreuil, Pantin and Beyond
· Updated:
Some of the most interesting club nights around Paris happen just outside the périphérique, in the inner suburbs: Montreuil has Bal Chavaux, La Marbrerie and Le Chinois, Pantin has Le Noct, Vitry-sur-Seine has Le Kilowatt, and cultural spaces in Saint-Ouen, Saint-Denis and Bagnolet throw parties and open-airs. Most of it is electronic and alternative, programmed by date rather than every weekend, and almost all of it is one metro line or one night bus from central Paris.
The reason is partly practical. Loud music has been moving out of central Paris for years towards Pantin, Saint-Denis, Aubervilliers and the 19e and 20e, where there are more warehouses and fewer neighbours, and the inner suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis (the 93) now host a big share of the scene. Don't expect bottle-service clubs here: these are concert halls, clubs and former industrial sites with a dancefloor. Two names often confused with the suburbs are actually in Paris: Kilomètre25 (19e, under the ring road on the Pantin side) and La Station (18e, Porte d'Aubervilliers).

Montreuil: three venues on line 9
Montreuil is the easiest suburb to reach for a night out, because metro line 9 runs straight there from the Grands Boulevards and République. Bal Chavaux, on Place Jacques-Duclos at the foot of Croix de Chavaux station, opened in a former cinema as the second space of the La Marbrerie team: the main hall holds about 500, and the programme goes from hip-hop to electronic music and hyper-pop, with queer club nights such as its horror-film Halloween ball on 31 October 2026, with DJs and drag shows until 5am. Dates are announced through January 2027.
La Marbrerie, at 21 rue Alexis Lepère, two minutes from Mairie de Montreuil, is a concert venue that also does club nights on some Fridays and Saturdays (6 and 7 November 2026 were on its agenda) and a music brunch on Sundays; its nights move between baile funk, electronic music, raï, jazz and hip-hop. Le Chinois, on Place du Marché near Croix de Chavaux, was relaunched in September 2025 by former members of the team behind L'International, the Oberkampf rock venue that closed in spring 2025: rock, punk, jazz and world music gigs, DJ sets and local electronic collectives.

Pantin: hard techno and a cultural space
Le Noct, at 100 avenue du Général Leclerc in Pantin, is the suburb's club for the harder end of the spectrum: hard techno, trance and hardcore, with room for emerging DJs, mostly on Friday and Saturday nights. Its dated nights ran through September 2026 and new dates are announced night by night, so check before you go. Nearby, La Cité Fertile is a one-hectare cultural space whose closure has been announced and postponed several times; in May 2026 Le Bonbon reported activity planned until December 2027. It hosted the final edition of the Entente Nocturne festival on 18 April 2026 and part of Paris Electronic Week from 30 September to 4 October 2026.
Saint-Ouen, Saint-Denis and Bagnolet: the cultural spaces
These places are not clubs, but they matter on the calendar. Mains d'Œuvres, at 1 rue Charles Garnier in Saint-Ouen, a former leisure centre for car-factory workers, mixes leftfield electronic music, rock and art: in 2026 it hosted the MOFO festival in March, a Fête de la Musique programme in June and Paris Electronic Week from 1 to 4 October. Le 6B, a creative space on the banks of the Seine in Saint-Denis, does exhibitions, concerts and open-airs, such as a day party on 19 September 2026 from 2pm to midnight. Le Sample, at 18 avenue de la République in Bagnolet, in the former Publison workshops, now shared by around seventy artists, has a garden of about 2,000 m² for open-airs in good weather.
Vitry and La Défense
South-east, Le Kilowatt (Espace Marcel Paul, 18 rue des Fusillés, Vitry-sur-Seine) runs a varied programme from reggae to techno and bass, plus festivals: the Paris Queer Festival on 30 and 31 May 2026 and the Ohlala Summer Festival on 13 June 2026, from 3pm to 2am. Paris Zigzag reported in July 2025 that its occupancy agreement had not been renewed; events went on through October 2026, but keep an eye on its news. Take RER C to Les Ardoines and walk about ten minutes. West, Nodd sits in the Oxygen village on the esplanade of La Défense (metro 1): an after-work bar from Tuesday to Friday with club nights by event, the last dated one being in May 2026.

Getting back to Paris
The metro reaches the suburbs on the same timetable as in Paris: about 2:15am at the end of the line on Friday and Saturday nights, about 1:15am on other nights. After that it's the Noctilien night buses, from about 12:30am to 5:30am, with Navigo valid; frequencies are lower outside Paris, so look up your line before you go out.
