Point Éphémère Paris Guide: Music, Crowd, Dress Code, Getting There

· Updated:

Point Éphémère is an arts venue on the Canal Saint-Martin, at 200 quai de Valmy in the 10th, that mixes indie and rock concerts with DJ nights, usually from 23:00 at weekends, and stays open every day, until 03:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. It isn't a nightclub in the usual sense, but Resident Advisor's 2026 guide counts it among the Paris clubs as “more than just a club”.

From the canal to the dancefloor

What sets Point Éphémère apart is that you can arrive in the afternoon and leave after the DJ. The venue opens at noon from Wednesday to Sunday (17:00 on Monday and Tuesday), with a bar and a restaurant inside, and the evening usually starts with a gig. The concert programme leans indie: garage, shoegaze, post-punk, rock, with talks, stand-up and exhibitions in between. At weekends a DJ night often follows. At the end of October 2026, for example, there was a DJ set night on Friday 30 from 23:00 and a large Halloween party on Saturday 31 from 20:00 to 04:00.

Because the parties come out of a cultural programme, they don't run every weekend on a fixed pattern. Check the agenda for the dates with a DJ night. When there isn't one, the place still works as a first stop: a drink by the water, a gig, then on to a club nearby. The 10th has two of the city's best-known clubs within reach: La Java, at the top of rue du Faubourg du Temple, and Essaim, near La Chapelle, both running until morning at weekends. That makes Point Éphémère an easy place to start a long night and decide later where to finish it.

The crowd and the summer rooftop

Since 2004, Point Éphémère has hosted concerts, debates, exhibitions, celebrations and dance events at the top end of the canal, and the crowd reflects that mix: gig-goers, people from the neighbourhood, students and those who simply like spending an evening by the water. It's a relaxed place, closer to a cultural centre with a bar than to a club with a door policy. In summer the TOP, the rooftop, opens with its own hours until September, which turns early evenings into one of the more pleasant ways to start a night in the 10th. The venue also does private hire, which can suit a birthday or a team night.

What to wear

There's no published dress code, and nobody expects club clothes. Think of it as a concert that may turn into a party: whatever you'd wear to a gig works, with shoes you can stand and dance in. In the cooler months, bring a layer if you plan to spend time outside by the canal before or after. If you're organising a group night around one of the parties, message us on WhatsApp with the date and how many you are.

Getting there and getting home

Jaurès metro (lines 2, 5 and 7bis) is a couple of minutes away, with Louis Blanc and Stalingrad nearby and buses 26, 46 and 48 stopping close by. On Friday and Saturday nights the last metros get to the end of their lines at about 02:15, and about 01:15 on other nights. If you stay until the 03:00 close, Noctilien buses cover the night from roughly 00:30 to 05:30, and Gare de l'Est, a short walk down the canal, is one of the network's big interchanges. The walk along the quai to Gare de l'Est is also an easy way to find a taxi.
