Paris Club Opening Hours: How Late Do Clubs Stay Open?
· Updated:
Paris clubs can stay open until 7am at the latest: that is the limit set by article D314-1 of the French tourism code for venues whose main business is a dance floor, and alcohol sales must stop 90 minutes before closing. In practice, closing times run from 4:30am at Les Bains to 7am at Rex Club, La Java, Mia Mao and Badaboum, and each club publishes its own hours.
This guide gives you the rule as written, then the hours the clubs themselves announce, so you can plan the night and the way home. Hours change with the season and the programme, so the date of each source is in the table.
The rule: 7am at the latest
The text is short. Article D314-1 of the tourism code, created by decree no. 2009-1652 of 23 December 2009 and in force since 28 December 2009, reads (in French): “L'heure limite de fermeture des débits de boissons ayant pour objet principal l'exploitation d'une piste de danse est fixée à 7 heures du matin.” In other words, a venue whose main activity is a dance floor must close by 7am. The legal basis is article L314-1 of the same code, which leaves it to a decree to set closing hours for these venues and allows a no-alcohol window before closing.
The second sentence of the article is the one that matters at the bar: “La vente de boissons alcooliques n'est plus autorisée dans les débits mentionnés au premier alinéa pendant l'heure et demie précédant sa fermeture.” So the last drink with alcohol is served 90 minutes before the club closes. A club that shuts at 7am stops serving alcohol at 5:30am; one that shuts at 6am, at 4:30am. Soft drinks and water are still served. Seven o'clock is a ceiling, not an obligation: each club picks its closing time below it, which is why the same Saturday can end at 4:30am in the Marais and at 7am in the 19e.
And bars?
Bars follow other rules. In Paris, the hours of bars, restaurants and similar venues are set by the Préfet de police, not by the mayor: the reference text is order no. 2010-00396 of 10 June 2010, as amended, “fixing the opening and closing hours of drinking establishments, restaurants and similar venues”. The Préfet can lift it for exceptional nights: for the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris, an order of 5 August 2024 let bars stay open all night from 24 to 25 August 2024 without prior authorisation. For a given bar, the reliable answer is the hours it posts, which may also reflect an individual authorisation.

Two patterns stand out. The electronic clubs of the east and north-east (Rex Club, La Java, Mia Mao, Badaboum, La Station) tend to run to 7am, the latest the rule allows. The clubs of the 8e and 16e close earlier, between 5am and 6am, and the hotel and cabaret clubs of Pigalle sit in between. Restaurant-clubs work on another clock: Giulia and Manko announce a bar or party until 2am.

What time to arrive
Doors open late in Paris. Most clubs in the table open between 11pm and midnight, and the techno clubs often start at midnight. That doesn't mean the room is full at opening time: the queue and the dancefloor build through the night, and in the west the club side of a restaurant-club only gets going after dinner. If you're on a guest list or have booked a table, the useful question is not when the club opens but until what time your name or your table holds. Ask us on WhatsApp before you go out and we'll tell you for that night.
Public holidays and their eves
The night before a public holiday works like a Saturday. The metro runs later, to about 2:15am at the end of the line, and clubs add nights. In 2026, 11 November (Armistice Day) falls on a Wednesday, so the agendas show extra parties on Tuesday 10 November: Djoon, Badaboum and La Java had dates that night, La Bellevilloise programmed La Shattarena, and Mia Mao opens some extra nights before holidays. Glazart runs its After O'Clock on the holiday itself, from 6am.
After closing time
When a club shuts at 7am, the metro is already running again: it restarts at around 5:30am. Before that, the Noctilien night buses cover Paris and the suburbs from about 12:30am to 5:30am. If you want to keep dancing, a few places run daytime sessions: Glazart's After O'Clock goes from 6am to 4pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and Essaim holds its Sunday “extended” sessions from 4pm. Our two guides below cover the afters and every way home.

How late do clubs stay open in Paris?
Until 7am at the latest. Article D314-1 of the French tourism code sets 7am as the closing limit for venues whose main business is a dance floor. In practice Paris clubs close between 4:30am and 7am, depending on the club and the night.
When is last call in a Paris club?
Ninety minutes before closing. The same article bans the sale of alcohol during the hour and a half before the venue closes, so a club that shuts at 6am stops serving alcohol at 4:30am.
Which Paris clubs close the latest?
Rex Club, La Java on Friday and Saturday, Mia Mao on Friday and Saturday, Badaboum and La Station all publish 7am closing times. After that, the morning sessions take over, such as Glazart's After O'Clock from 6am on weekends.
Do bars close at the same time as clubs?
No. In Paris, opening and closing hours for bars and restaurants are set by an order of the Préfet de police (order no. 2010-00396 of 10 June 2010, as amended), which can grant exceptions, such as the all-night opening of 24–25 August 2024. Check the hours each bar posts.
What time should I arrive at a Paris club?
Most clubs open between 11pm and midnight, and many techno clubs start at midnight. If you're on a guest list or have a table, ask us on WhatsApp what time it applies until.
